APK5 - 255 Upper Valve Module - Brine Suction / Brine Tank Overflow after replacing the Top part of the Valve
Last Updated: 12/04/2019

PROBLEM:
When it goes through the cycle it doesn’t take the water from the brine tank and then it overflows when it refills, is there something I can do or is the module defective. This started a few months age and I tried setting the salt use higher and put your cleaner through it but to no avail. Is there anything you can help me with.

The problem has many possible causes.
Some would involve the Upper Valve Body, but most do not.
Also, the Upper Valve Body is not likely to be "defective",
but the Injector, Injector Screen, and Backwash Plug with flow control ball are all areas to "Check" for clogging or "debris".
Also, the # 2 and # 3 valve disc must be closing ( and staying closed ) during the 50 minutes of the Brine Rinse ( suction ) cycle.

Most of the time, with an older Lower Valve / Tank adapter and Drain,
the problem is with a connection to the Brine tank or a clog ( restriction ) in the old Drain pipe / hose.

Here is our article on Brine Tank Overflow, and you'll find a list of things to be checking.

Also, this "Tear Down" Video might help you understand how to take a part the 255 valve.

255 Upper Valve Body Replacement without Timer Assembly

460TC is a replacement for 440 timers, and is a little "simpler" to program.
It has improved drive motor, electronic timer, and only 3 drive gears ( old 440 had 8 and 4 that loved to break ).

The Logix 740 is a better design ( all the cycle times are controlled by the electronics ), and since it uses a rear drive motor ( with 1 gear ), it is less likely to fail mechanically.
There is a little more involved to the programming, and requires you know your resin capacity ( amount in cu.ft. ), in the long run, we believe this to be the best replacement timer option.

However, please NOTE: The 740 Logix is only available for use on the 255, 263, or 268 Valve Bodies, and if you have an older 155 or 163, 168, and just need / want to replace your 440 timer, you must use the 460TC or replace the Entire Valve Head ( with newer 255 or Performa 263 / 268 Valve ).
There is no way to use the LOGIX timers with old 155, 163, 168 models.
Review the information on the two ( we have photos, videos, copies of directions, etc ), and you can make an informed decision. Either will work.
