Backwash only valves are typically always "Day Timers", since only water is used ( no salt or other regenerant is used ).And because it's usually important to Back Wash the Media on a regular basis,
even if no water used ( to prevent clogging, especially when Calcite is used, but helpful no matter the media ).
Backwash only with Cycle times adjustable. Entire process completes in only 30 minutes ( unlike mechanical timers that can take up to 2 hours to finish cycling ).
Commonly used on tanks for backwashing Carbon, Birm, and Acid Neutralizing Medium such as Calcite.
Note:
"Carbon Filter" assumes the media tank is using only Carbon with Gravel under bedding. And requires the installation of a Top Distributor which we provide with each Valve ( MD1203 ).
"Filter Backwash" assumes the media tank is using something "Heavier" than Carbon, such as BIRM, Calcite, Green Sand, Pyrolox, and Gravel under bedding.
And that is the reason for the higher Backwash Flow Rating per Tank Diameter.
If this Valve is to replace an existing Fleck 5000, 5600, 2510 or newer Rainsoft ( with Black Noryl body ) valve, then the existing By Pass or Piping Yoke will clip on to this replacement valve.
Otherwise you will NEED either a standard Noryl plastic piping connection in either 3/4" or 1" with all valves purchased,
OR a By-Pass Option can be purchased separately.
NOTE: Valve Covers ( front and rear ) are INCLUDED at no extra charge.
We include at no extra charge, a new distributor kit. This is part # MD1236. It is a plastic lower screen which can be cemented to a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe to construct a new distributor tube. Your old distributor could be slightly smaller than the ones now used by both Fleck and Autotrol ( old size 13/16", new size 1.05" outer diameter ).
We also include a 1.05 Top Distributor Twist On - part # MD1203 at no charge.

The "start" time and the days between Back Washing are adjustable.
Also, there is a DW ( day of week ) option if you want to go only on a certain day of the week.
Set Up Defaults you will see are:
CYCLES you'll see in programming=
BW ( back wash ) = 00:10 minutes ( can be increased to 15 minutes which is what we use with other backwash valves )
BSR ( brine slow rinse ) = 00.00 minutes ( no time .. never runs brine suction / rinse cycle )
FR ( fast rinse ) = 00:10 minutes ( again, something we normally run for 15 minutes )
BR ( brine refill ) = 00:00 minutes ( no time ... never "refills" brine tank ).
