Overflow Fitting With Nut mounts on the side of the brine tank.
Allows you to attach a hose ( 1/2" I.D. ) to divert the water should the salt tank start to over fill.
There is no "Cap" for the brine tank overflow elbow connection.
This fitting / connection is there to allow you to
RUN a Drain Hose to a safe location,
should ( when ) there is a Brine Tank Overflow / Malfunction.
The 5/8" O.D. x 1/2" I.D. hose used is

If you Plug the "Hole" in the elbow,
you can prevent water from leaking out at that point,
but then the water in the brine tank will just rise HIGHER in the salt tank,
until it comes out the brine tubing "hole" or the Top of the salt tank.
