  4. Fleck 5600 - difference between metered, 12 day softener valve and Backwash ONLY
What is the difference between metered demand control and 12 day skipper wheel?

* Metered.. Meter Demand Operation
** The Fleck 5600 version - 12 day works ( regenerates ) according to the "days" or "pins" you slide out ... no tracking of water used... just "runs" every set number of days.

* See this Video showing the Time Clock and Metered Versions compared,
https://youtu.be/-LmntgJyX4I

** It is possible to "upgrade" the Fleck 5600 12 Day valve to "metered" operation.
You need to replace the POWER HEAD,
see:
Power Head - 5600 Metered Standard

And ADD a meter Module:
* Fleck version,
see:
Meter Module Black Standard

* After market version ( much lower cost ),

Difference between Softener Valve and Backwash only Valve = Fleck 5600 Conversion Video

Parts to convert,
[Fleck Injector Size / Color:U = undrilled ( Nozzle only = BLACK )]
* And change /increase the DLFC button flow rate --- typically 5.0 or 7.0 GPM ( depends on the "Media" you are backwashing and diameter of tank ).
Reference GPM selections listed with the complete Backwash 5600 Valve.

To regenerate the Fleck 5600 valve used on softener,
without working timer motor.

The following steps are involved in regeneration:
Time to leave in each cycle

Regen - none, valve does nothing in that position Rinse - none really, just move control knob until you hear the water flowing out the drain, and you'll be in Backwash cycle.

Backwash - 10 minutes

Brine rinse - 50 minutes ( and no less, as this is the most critical cycle )

Rapid rinse - 10 minutes

Settle rinse - 5 minutes

Brine refill - until it refills back to normal water level in brine tank ( 6 - 16 minutes ).

The 5600 Filter Valves using black top filter piston ( PN 60102-10 ), and if BACKWASH ONLY ( not connected to any type of "feeder" tank for potassium, salt, or chlorine) you would SKIP the Brine Rinse and Brine Refill.
Also the Backwash time would be increased to 15 minutes ( also the Rapid Rinse cycle to 15 minutes ).
