  4. 940 and 960 Timer Obsolete - Replacement Options

QUESTION: I have a Autotrol 255/960 water softener and the 960 timer has stopped working I.e.it lights up all led's when initially powered on then goes completely dark. Is there a replacement timer available that will retro fit my 255? There apparently are no 960 timers available.

*** You can use the "upgrade kit" with the 740 Logix ( as it includes a new Top Plate, which you would require, as the 960 top plate is different ).
The Kit would be a "Day Timer" and not count your water or regenerate based in usage ( demand ).
Still it's a low cost alternative, as the 940 and 960 timers are obsolete.
To replace the 940,
see:
Upgrade Kit 255/740 Logix

To replace the 960 ( to retain the "metered" option ),
see:
760 Logix 255 Upgrade

***********
Or you could replace the entire "Upper Valve and Timer" with the 255 upper valve and 740 timer,
see:
255 Upper Valve with 740 Logix timer

Your next option would be to replace the ENTIRE Valve Head with:
Either

255 Valve 740 Logix timer,
Autotrol 255 valve with 740 Logix day timer

OR the 255 / 760 Logix ( metered, demand ).

The 940 and 960 also used on some of the older Avanta Pure brand.

They used propriety "upflow" version valves ( such as the 269 ) and proprietary timers ( such as the 963 ). Only a few of the common parts used in other Autotrol Valves ( like the Performa 268 or the 255 model ) are available.
