WaterShield granular activated carbon is designed for reduction of tastes, odors and dissolved organic chemicals from municipal and industrial water supplies. Manufactured for the United States from select grades of coconut shell to produce a high density, durable granular product capable of withstanding the abrasion and dynamics associated with repeated hydraulic transport, backwashing and mechanical handling. Activation is carefully controlled to produce exceptionally high internal surface area with optimum pore size for the adsorption of a broad range of high and low molecular weight organic contaminants.
Common Tank Sizes and the Amount of Carbon needed:
7 x 44 = 1/2 cu.ft. Carbon and 10 lbs. Gravel
8 x 44 = 3/4 cu.ft. Carbon and 10 lbs. Gravel.
9 x 48 = 1 cu.ft. Carbon and 13 lbs. Gravel
10 x 44 = 1 cu.ft. Carbon and 16 lbs. Gravel
10 x 54 = 1.5 cu.ft. Carbon and 16 lbs. Gravel
12 x 48 ( or 52 ) = 2.0 cu.ft. Carbon and 20 lbs. Gravel
13 x 54 = 2.5 cu.ft. Carbon and 35 lbs. Gravel
Remember you'll need GRAVEL when rebedding a carbon filter tank.
And your Valve Head MUST have a Top Distributor attached.
